Twelve high-quality masterpieces from the Detroit Institute of Art’s (DIA) collection are on display throughout Downtown Alpena. The Exhibit will run from early June through October 2016. These works are on loan from the DIA as part of their DIA’s Inside|Out program, which brings art into outdoor public view and appreciation.
Keep an eye out for art installations throughout Downtown Alpena! The pieces can be found at the Alpena City Harbor, on the shores of the Thunder Bay River, and lots of places in-between. The total walk or bike ride is three (3) miles. All but one of the works can be viewed from your vehicle. Each image reflects the diversity of the museum’s collection and broad interests of the community. The high-profile program is sure to generate excitement and increased foot traffic in the downtown area, especially when there are so many great shops, eateries, and public spaces to explore as you view the art. Facebook users can follow Inside Out updates and share their experiences at www.facebook.com/dia.insideout.
