In 2017, the idea of Red Brick Tap & Barrel was moved from a “one day” dream to a reality. Chef Kevin Peterson and Brooke Peterson partnered with Corey Canute to bring Downtown Alpena a taste of the urban restaurants Kevin had seen in Chicago, Denver, and beyond. Inspired by upscale cuisine, craft beer, and great whiskey, the essence of Red Brick was formed. The process of restoring and bringing life to an old building then began. Our building at 109 River St. has been a saloon/bar for over 100 years, most recently The Dry Dock. We wanted to preserve the qualities that make an old building so special, as well as add in our own modern touches.
Our mission statement is what drives our goals each day, and dictates every decision we make: to connect Alpena through an inspired food and cocktail menu. The goal is to connect every customer to real, unique, food and specialty drinks, and a whiskey selection that would impress Jack Daniel himself. We have spent the time to foster relationships with local farmers so that every dish has the freshest ingredients, as well as connected to small breweries and distilleries for beer and spirits.
